Meet Benny! The dog who started it all!
Hi!  My name is Benny!  I was born in November of 2006 and was rescued from a local shelter and given a wonderful life with a loving family in February of 2007.  When I was a young pup, I did the normal puppy things, playing with my siblings, chewing on toys and getting into trouble.  My first two years of life I spent being a dog and enjoying life with my family.  However, they had more in store for me.  In 2008, my family decided to open a pet store.  They went back and forth over what it should be named until they finally decided to name it after me, Benny.  You probably heard of it, "Benny's Pet Depot!"   I guess all of my begging and making sad puppy eyes paid off.  We have fun at our store.  My favorite part is that we are involved with the local rescue organizations.  We hold meet and greets at the store with two
big adopt-a-thons every year.  The best part is, because of our efforts, some of the homeless animals find their forever homes, just like I did!  That makes my tail wag!!!

Sadly, there is a downside.  I hear some pretty sad stories about animals and the urgent medical needs they have.  I told my family we needed to do more!  They were super excited about my idea.  They discussed my thoughts with three of their friends about starting a nonprofit to help the homeless animals in Central PA.  That's when Benny's Pet Foundation was born! Everyone just loved my idea!  Everything BPF does is in the best interest of all my  pet friends right here in Central PA.  How great is that?!  We get to help animals in need!  That keeps my tail wagging!!!

Benny is the "spokesdog" and founder of Benny's Pet Foundation.  A rescued pet himself, Benny along with his family and friends are dedicating their lives to helping pets in need!
The Benny's Pet Foundation Board of Directors came together through a common concern for affordable pet care in our community as well as a lifelong support of animal rescues.  We have all witnessed the struggles of rescues as well as pet owners when unexpected veterinary medical expenses arise.
BPF believes that providing core vaccines at a low-cost is essential to supporting pet owners in our Central PA Community.  Learn more about our Low-Cost Vaccine clinics here .
BPF also fundraises and hosts adoption events to give grants to animal rescues and veterinarian charity care funds.  Learn more about our grant programs here .
Our Board of Directors are all unpaid volunteers, and Benny’s Pet Foundation is entirely volunteer run with no paid staff.
